TamTam Books News

Saturday, March 18, 2006:

Good for English readers everywhere, but bad for me personally is the new Dover edition of Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre’s “Fantômas.” Good is that this is a major 20th Century piece of literature that has been way too long out of print. The bad is that I wanted to publish this book for a long time now. So sadly I am disappointed that this is not a TamTam Books edition.

But on the other hand it is good that this book is coming out (later this month) and it has an introduction by Robin Walz, who wrote the amazing “Pulp Surrealism: Insolent Popular Culture in Early Twentieth-Century Paris.” Walz is an expert on French crime fiction, and he is the perfect match with respect to him writing an introduction to ‘Fantômas.”

But still… I am sad that this is not a TamTam Books production. Drats!
