MANUAL OF SAINT-GERMAIN-DES-PRES BY BORIS VIAN Released ON OCTOBER 18

The long awaited and yes, legendary book will be finally released this coming Tuesday October 18th.

Boris Vian's “Manual of Saint-Germain-des-Prés” is like being knocked out and finding yourself in bed with Juliette Gréco and Miles Davis circ. Paris 1949. The photographs by Georges Dudognon will place you in the legendary clubs like Le Taboo and Club Germain, and you are overwhelmed from the heat, the lack of air, and the throbbing jazzy beat of Claude Luter and his Orchestra.

Boris Vian is your host to a tour of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. You will discover a part of Paris that no longer exists, but at one time existed as a major (sexy) force in post-war Paris and its literature, its cinema and its American & French jazz.

The beauty of this book is that Vian wrote it at the heat and the heart of the social scene - and he doesn't pull any punches. It is a raw, funny, and sassy take on an aesthetic scene as it was happening.

There will be a small Los Angeles tour for the book with yours truly (Tosh) and the translator Paul Knobloch. Each location there will be a specific CD to be made featuring the music of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. No cd is exactly the same! The CD to be made for the Santa Monica Museum will be more of a focus on American and French jazz - and how they correspond with each other. That you can only get at the reading at the Santa Monica Museum. All stores first come first served!
