The other big news is that Bookforum (the February/March issue) is doing an excerpt of a book we (Rizzoli and I) have been working on for a while now: “Boris Vian’s Manual of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.” They published a seductive taster of the ultra-cool and beautiful Georges Dudognon photos that are in the book as well as the brilliant translation of Vian's text by Paul Knobloch – who also translated “Autumn in Peking.” What’s fascinating about this book is that the text is by Vian, and it fully expresses his social and artistic scene of the time - 1949 Paris. It is full of remarkable unknown characters (to us at least) and the very- famous bohemian/movie stars/literary giants/jazz greats of that and all time! Totally fab! So pick up “Autumn in Peking” at your favorite store – and read the excerpt of “Boris Vian’s Manual of Saint-Germain-des-Prés” in the latest issue of Bookforum.
