TamTam Books News Saturday, August 21, 2004: Sarah Glazer wrote a fascinating piece for the New York Times Book Review today regarding the 1953 English translation of Simone de Beauvoir’s classic study "The Second Sex." Of course being the publisher of TamTam Books I have a deep interest in the subject matter of translations – especially from French to English. Glazer and other scholars claim that the English translation of ''Le Deuxieme Sexe'' is horrible and full of mistakes. With respect to economical reasons; Knopf & Co. have so far refused to issue new English translation of this important classic. I am sure all TamTam Books readers are aware of the relationship (friendship) between Simone de Beauvoir and Boris Vian.
