TamTam Books News

Wednesday, February 18, 2004:

Recently I found out that there is an opera by Russian 20th Century composer Edison Denisov based on Boris Vian's L'Ecume des jours (Foam of the Daze). Has anyone on this list heard this opera - or know where one can purchase a cd of it?
Feel free to contact me at tosh3@earthlink.net

This is the info I got:

"L'ecume des Jours", opera after B. Vian (1981)

"Colin et Chloƫ", suite from the opera "L'ecume des jours" for soprano,
mezzo-soprano, tenor, chorus and orchestra (1981)
LP Melodiya 24593 - USSR Ministry of Culture SO, Latvian SSR Academic
Chorus, V. Sinaisky (cond), N. Lee (soprano). This recording has also
appeared on CD.

Also it seems Denisov wrote a smaller piece inspired by Vian called:

"La vie en rouge" after B. Vian for solo voice, flute, clarinet, violin,
cello, piano and percussion opus 45 (1973)
LP Le Chant du Monde LDX 78 806
